Bitboy Named in $1B FTX Case

Bitboy was named in a $1 billion lawsuit against allegedly sponsored FTX promoters. Plaintiff lawyers have accused Bitboy of harassment.

Court Order

In the wake of FTX’s collapse, there has been plenty of blame to go around from disgraced former executives to celebrities and crypto influencers who promoted the exchange and its token FTT. As reported by DailyCoin last month, Ben “Bitboy” Armstrong was named in one such lawsuit for allegedly engaging in the undisclosed paid promotion of FTX and FTT. The United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida ordered Bitboy to appear with his attorney on April 20th following evidence of harassment against plaintiff lawyers.

Bitboy’s Refusal To Appear In Court

Despite this court order, Bitboy took to Twitter asserting that he would not appear in court to address the harassment claims. Speaking directly to Adam Moskowitz, a lead attorney for the plaintiffs, the influencer described the court order as an “inconvenience” before going on state that he would continue „to relentlessly bully people that prey on innocent and weak“.

Crypto Community Reacts To Refusal

The crypto community reacted positively but cautiously to Bitboys refusal with several suggesting that he risks being charged with contempt by ignoring a court order issued by an US district court judge. Australian commercial lawyer Bill Morgan commented sarcastically „Ignoring a court order – good luck with that.“

Conclusion

It remains unclear whether or not Ben „BitBoy“ Armstrong will face any legal ramifications as a result of his decision
