Robert Pennock in his "Tower of Babel" book has a very excellent analysis of Phillip Johnson and his application of legal reasoning to science. Pennock notes:
1) Standards of scientific evidence are universal among scientists and standards of legal evidence can vary signficantly between states.
2) Scientific reasoning is not identical with logical reasoning.
3) Johnson also wants to introduce theism into our legal system as well as into scientific methodology. ie. A  Bible-based legal theory, probably similar in principle to the legal system in Iran.

Creationism’s Upside-Down Pyramid By: Lee Tiffin  Prometheus Books
 ISBN 0-87975-770-1

Lee Tiffin is an unusual combination: Master’s degree in plant physiology and botany and a master’s degree in divinity!  He worked as a scientist for a number of federal agencies and has been pastor of a number of Christian churches.  He is logical and fair-minded to a high degree.

As a scientist he is offended by the ludicrous creationist distortions of science and as a Christian he is offended by creationist distortions of the bible.

His particular forte is dissecting creationist pseudo-scientific rantings about the flood and young earth theory—which are the underpinnings of creationism.  If you’ve ever wanted to see what goes on inside the creationist mind, this is a good read.

As a reference it has a detailed index and all scientific and biblical quotes are carefully footnoted.  There are some great (usable) quotes, again carefully annotated—i.e. Jerry Falwell is quoted thus in a sermon July 4, 1976,”The idea that religion and politics don’t mix was invented by the Devil to keep Christians from running their own country.----I hope I live to see the day when, as in the early days of our country, we won’t have any public schools.  The churches will have taken them over again and Christians will be running them.  What a happy day that will be!”
