1992 was a very controversial year for Snohomish County. The local schoolboard allowed young-earth creationist Donald Chittick to lecture in a local public high school.
In 1995, an attempt was made in a Sultan schoolboard meeting to require the use of "Of Pandas and People" textbook in the local public school science classes. But the measure was voted down.
As noted in the summary, Donald Chittick lectured at a local public high school. This incident sparked a community furor that led to the ouster of one of the schoolboard members in the subsequent election. Since then, creationism has not been discussed in Stanwood public schools, but the quality of evolutionary biology education remains a mystery.
For a complete summary of what happened, see the article, God's Country, written (and drawn!) by Mark Zingarelli.
No known creationist organizations exist in this county.
