Burlington-Edison school district's motto -

The issue of intelligent
design was the focus of a controversial curriculum promoted by a public
school science teacher in Burlington, Washington.
For 11 years, Roger DeHart had been promoting the notion of
"intelligent design" in his public school classroom. This led to a
community furor over whether Mr. DeHart was teaching science or religion.
